Tres Leches Cake

Tres Leches Cake

Tres Leches Cake is a moist and luscious Latin American dessert soaked in three types of milk, creating a rich and creamy texture that’s perfect for any celebration.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 5 large eggs, separated
  • 1 cup sugar, divided
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream (for topping)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • Ground cinnamon, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat egg yolks with 3/4 cup sugar until pale and fluffy. Stir in milk and vanilla extract.
  4. Gently fold the egg yolk mixture into the flour mixture until just combined.
  5. In another clean bowl, beat egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add remaining 1/4 cup sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.
  6. Fold egg whites carefully into the batter until fully incorporated.
  7. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Allow cake to cool completely in the pan.
  9. In a mixing bowl, combine evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and 1/4 cup heavy cream.
  10. Prick the cooled cake all over with a fork and slowly pour the milk mixture over the cake, allowing it to soak in.
  11. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  12. Before serving, whip 1 1/2 cups heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  13. Spread whipped cream over the cake and sprinkle lightly with ground cinnamon if desired.

Notes

For best results, refrigerate the cake overnight to allow the milks to fully soak in; serve chilled with fresh berries for a delightful twist.
