strawberry shortcake trifle

A delightful strawberry shortcake trifle combining layers of fluffy cake, fresh strawberries, and creamy whipped topping for a refreshing and easy-to-make dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 store-bought or homemade pound cake, cut into cubes
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine sliced strawberries with granulated sugar. Let sit for 15 minutes to macerate.
  2. In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  3. In a trifle bowl or large glass bowl, layer half of the cake cubes.
  4. Top the cake cubes with half of the macerated strawberries, including the juice.
  5. Add a layer of half the whipped cream over the strawberries.
  6. Repeat layers with the remaining cake, strawberries, and whipped cream.
  7. Chill the trifle in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving for best flavor.

Notes

For an added flavor twist, drizzle a little strawberry liqueur over the cake layers before assembling.
