Strawberry Pretzel Salad

Strawberry Pretzel Salad is a delightful layered dessert combining a crunchy pretzel crust, creamy cream cheese filling, and a sweet strawberry gelatin topping for a perfect balance of flavors and textures.

  • 2 cups crushed pretzels
  • 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 cups whipped topping (e.g. Cool Whip), divided
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 package (6 oz) strawberry gelatin (Jell-O)
  • 2 cups boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, mix crushed pretzels, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, and melted butter until well combined.
  3. Press the pretzel mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  4. Bake the crust for 10 minutes, then remove and let cool completely.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese with powdered sugar until smooth.
  6. Fold in 1 cup of whipped topping to the cream cheese mixture.
  7. Spread the cream cheese layer evenly over the cooled pretzel crust.
  8. Place sliced strawberries evenly over the cream cheese layer.
  9. In another bowl, dissolve strawberry gelatin in 2 cups boiling water. Stir until completely dissolved.
  10. Allow gelatin to cool slightly, then carefully pour it over the strawberries.
  11. Refrigerate the dessert for at least 4 hours or until the gelatin is set.
  12. Top with remaining whipped topping before serving, if desired.

Notes

For an extra burst of flavor, use fresh ripe strawberries and serve chilled. You can also substitute the whipped topping with homemade whipped cream for a richer taste.
