Sourdough Blueberry Brioche Tarts

Delight in these flaky sourdough brioche tarts filled with fresh blueberries, perfect for a luscious breakfast or a sweet dessert treat.

  • 1 cup sourdough brioche dough
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. On a floured surface, roll out the brioche dough to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  3. Cut the dough into squares or circles, about 4 inches in diameter.
  4. In a bowl, mix blueberries, sugar, lemon zest, and lemon juice.
  5. In another bowl, whip the cream cheese with vanilla extract until smooth.
  6. Place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each dough piece.
  7. Top with a spoonful of the blueberry mixture over the cream cheese.
  8. Fold edges slightly inward to form a tart shape but leave the center open.
  9. Brush the dough edges with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  10. Bake for 18-22 minutes, until golden brown and bubbly.
  11. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

For an extra touch, serve warm with a dollop of whipped cream or a drizzle of honey.
