Key Lime Pie

Key Lime Pie is a tangy and creamy dessert featuring a graham cracker crust filled with zesty key lime custard, perfect for a refreshing treat.

  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk (about 1 can)
  • 1/2 cup key lime juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1 tablespoon grated lime zest
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and granulated sugar. Mix until well combined.
  3. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie dish.
  4. Bake the crust for 8-10 minutes. Remove and let cool.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks until pale.
  6. Gradually add the sweetened condensed milk, stirring constantly.
  7. Mix in key lime juice and lime zest until smooth.
  8. Pour the filling into the cooled crust and bake for 12-15 minutes, until set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
  9. Remove from oven and chill the pie in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours before serving.
  10. Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form, then spread or pipe over the chilled pie as garnish.

Notes

For an extra refreshing twist, garnish the pie with thin lime slices or a sprinkle of toasted coconut before serving.
