Homemade Spicy Ketchup

This Homemade Spicy Ketchup blends rich tomato flavor with a fiery kick, perfect for adding zest to your favorite snacks and meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Dash of hot sauce (optional, for extra heat)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together tomato paste, apple cider vinegar, and water until smooth.
  2. Add brown sugar, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to the mixture. Stir well to combine.
  3. If desired, add a dash of your favorite hot sauce to increase the heat level and mix thoroughly.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a small saucepan and heat over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes to blend the flavors.
  5. Allow the spicy ketchup to cool, then transfer to a clean jar or bottle. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving for best flavor.

Notes

For a milder version, reduce the cayenne pepper and omit the hot sauce. This spicy ketchup pairs wonderfully with grilled burgers, fries, and roasted vegetables.
