Reuben Sandwich

The classic Reuben Sandwich features tender corned beef, tangy sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and creamy Russian dressing grilled to perfection on rye bread. This hearty American deli favorite is perfect for a satisfying lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 slices rye bread
  • 4 tablespoons Russian dressing
  • 8 ounces sliced corned beef
  • 1 cup sauerkraut, drained
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Spread Russian dressing evenly on one side of each slice of rye bread.
  3. On four slices of bread, layer corned beef, sauerkraut, and Swiss cheese.
  4. Top each with another slice of bread, dressing side down, to form sandwiches.
  5. Butter the outside surfaces of each sandwich.
  6. Place sandwiches in the hot skillet and grill for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until bread is golden brown and cheese is melted.
  7. Remove from skillet, let cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.

Notes

For an extra tangy twist, lightly drain and squeeze the sauerkraut to remove excess moisture before adding it to the sandwich. Serve with a pickle and potato chips for a classic deli experience.
