Graduation Sheet Cake for Boys

Celebrate your graduate with this deliciously moist and chocolatey Graduation Sheet Cake for Boys, perfect for any party or special occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot water
  • For the frosting:
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3.5 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Decorations: edible graduation caps, blue and black colored sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch sheet pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Stir in hot water carefully; batter will be thin.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow cake to cool completely in the pan before frosting.
  8. To make frosting, beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder alternately with heavy cream, beating to spreading consistency. Stir in vanilla extract.
  9. Spread frosting evenly over cooled cake.
  10. Decorate the cake with edible graduation caps and blue and black sprinkles to celebrate the occasion.

Notes

For an extra festive touch, add the graduate’s name and graduation year with piped icing or edible markers.
