Pico de Gallo

Pico de Gallo

Pico de Gallo is a fresh, vibrant Mexican salsa made with diced tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and lime juice, perfect for adding a zesty touch to any dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 1/2 medium white onion, finely chopped
  • 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped onion, jalapeño, and cilantro.
  2. Add the lime juice and salt, then gently stir to combine all ingredients evenly.
  3. Let the salsa sit for 10 minutes at room temperature to allow flavors to meld.
  4. Taste and adjust salt or lime juice if needed before serving.
  5. Serve fresh as a topping for tacos, grilled meats, or with tortilla chips.

Notes

For extra heat, leave some seeds in the jalapeño or add a dash of hot sauce. Pico de Gallo tastes best fresh but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
