Cottage Cheese Tots

Cottage Cheese Tots are crispy, golden bites packed with creamy cottage cheese and herbs, perfect as a snack or appetizer for a wholesome treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • Cooking oil for frying (optional if baking)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) if baking. If frying, heat oil in a deep skillet over medium heat.
  2. In a large bowl, combine cottage cheese, shredded cheddar, breadcrumbs, egg, green onions, garlic powder, black pepper, salt, and Parmesan cheese.
  3. Mix well until the ingredients are thoroughly combined and the mixture can hold shape when formed.
  4. Using your hands, form small tot-shaped bites (about 1 inch long).
  5. If baking, place tots on a lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown, flipping halfway through.
  6. If frying, carefully drop tots in hot oil and fry for about 3-4 minutes until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  7. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For a healthier version, bake the tots instead of frying and use whole wheat breadcrumbs for added fiber.
