Cajun Cream Sauce

A rich and spicy Cajun cream sauce that brings bold Southern flavors to pasta, seafood, or chicken dishes with a creamy, smooth finish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper, cooking for 1 minute to release the flavors.
  4. Pour in the heavy cream and chicken broth, stirring to combine.
  5. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and fully incorporated.
  7. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  8. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve warm over your favorite dishes.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute half of the heavy cream with half-and-half or whole milk, and adjust seasoning accordingly.
