Blueberry Bagels

These Blueberry Bagels are soft, chewy, and bursting with fresh blueberries, perfect for a flavorful breakfast or snack.

  • 3 ½ cups bread flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 1 ¼ cups warm water
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 tablespoon honey (for boiling water)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine bread flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.
  2. Add warm water and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Gently fold in the fresh blueberries, being careful not to break them.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour until doubled.
  6. Divide dough into 8 equal pieces, shape each into a ball, and poke a hole through the center to form bagels.
  7. Let shaped bagels rest for 10 minutes to slightly rise.
  8. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  9. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add honey.
  10. Boil each bagel for 1 minute on each side, then transfer to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  11. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  12. Cool on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle coarse sugar or lemon zest on top before baking.
