Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk, warm
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp orange zest (from about 2 oranges)
  • 1/3 cup orange juice, fresh
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • For the glaze:
    1 cup powdered sugar
    2-3 tbsp orange juice

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and orange zest.
  3. Add melted butter, eggs, orange juice, and the yeast mixture to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon for the filling.
  7. Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 16×12 inches. Spread melted butter evenly over the surface.
  8. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the buttered dough.
  9. Starting from the long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log and cut into 12 equal rolls.
  10. Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  11. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  12. While warm, whisk powdered sugar and orange juice to make the glaze and drizzle over the rolls before serving.

Notes

For an extra zesty touch, sprinkle additional fresh orange zest on top of the glaze just before serving.
