Basketball Pretzel Cookies

Delightful Basketball Pretzel Cookies combine crunchy pretzels and sweet cookie dough, decorated to resemble mini basketballs — perfect for game day treats or festive snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ cups mini pretzels
  • Orange and black royal icing or colored icing pens for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the mini pretzels gently to distribute evenly.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized dough balls onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
  9. Remove from oven and allow cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.
  10. Once cooled, decorate each cookie with orange icing to cover the top and use black icing or piping pens to draw basketball lines.
  11. Let the icing set before serving or storing.

Notes

For an extra crunch, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top before baking. These cookies are great for parties and pair nicely with a cold glass of milk.
