Scale
  • 2 lbs twaróg (Polish farmer’s cheese) or cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Mix in sour cream, melted butter, vanilla extract, and lemon zest until fully combined.
  5. Gently fold in the flour until just incorporated to avoid overmixing.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  7. Bake for 60 to 70 minutes, or until the center is set and the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Allow the sernik to cool in the pan, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar if desired before slicing and serving.

Notes

For an extra touch, top your sernik with fresh berries or a fruit compote to add a bright contrast to its creamy texture.
