A creamy, flavorful nacho cheese sauce perfect for dipping or drizzling over your favorite snacks, combining melted cheese with a blend of spices for an irresistible taste.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 1/2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1–2 minutes until lightly golden, creating a roux.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk, continuing to whisk until smooth and thickened, about 3–5 minutes.
  4. Reduce heat to low, then stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
  5. Add smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper; stir to combine.
  6. Cook for another 1–2 minutes, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and serve warm.

Notes

For extra creaminess, substitute half the milk with evaporated milk or add a splash of heavy cream. Serve with tortilla chips, steamed veggies, or drizzled over baked potatoes.
