Jam donut focaccia combines the fluffy texture of Italian focaccia bread with the sweet, fruity delight of classic jam donuts for a unique and indulgent treat.

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup mixed berry jam or your favorite jam
  • Vegetable oil for brushing
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. Pour in the yeast mixture and melted butter, then mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet.
  7. Punch down the risen dough and spread it out evenly onto the prepared baking sheet, about ½-inch thick.
  8. Use your fingertips to make dimples all over the dough surface.
  9. Fill each dimple with a teaspoon of jam.
  10. Brush the dough lightly with vegetable oil.
  11. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  12. Remove from oven and let cool slightly, then dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.
