Gourmet Mascarpone Strawberry Grilled Cheese with Balsamic Glaze

Enjoy a harmonious blend of creamy mascarpone, fresh strawberries, and melted cheese in this gourmet grilled sandwich, perfectly enhanced by a tangy balsamic glaze.

  • 4 slices of artisan sourdough bread
  • 4 oz mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 4 slices of sharp white cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • Fresh basil leaves (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine balsamic vinegar and honey. Simmer over low heat until reduced by half and syrupy; set aside to cool.
  2. Spread mascarpone cheese evenly on two slices of sourdough bread.
  3. Layer sliced strawberries and fresh basil leaves over the mascarpone.
  4. Top with cheddar cheese slices, then cover with the remaining bread slices.
  5. Butter the outside of each sandwich evenly.
  6. Heat a skillet over medium heat and grill sandwiches for about 3-4 minutes per side until the bread is golden brown and cheese is melted.
  7. Remove from skillet, slice diagonally, and drizzle with balsamic glaze before serving.

Notes

For an extra flavor boost, sprinkle a pinch of cracked black pepper over the mascarpone before assembling, or serve with a side of mixed greens dressed lightly in olive oil.
