This cheeseburger baked casserole combines all the flavors of a classic cheeseburger into a simple, oven-baked dish perfect for an easy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup crushed potato chips or breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 sandwich buns, sliced in half
  • Lettuce, tomato, and pickles for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, diced onion, and minced garlic until the beef is browned and the onions are softened. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Stir in ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper; cook for another 2 minutes.
  4. Spread the beef mixture evenly in a 9×9 inch baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle crushed potato chips or breadcrumbs over the beef layer.
  6. Top evenly with shredded cheddar cheese.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 15–20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Toast the sandwich buns in the last 5 minutes of baking if desired.
  9. Serve the baked cheeseburger mixture on the toasted buns and garnish with lettuce, tomato, and pickles as preferred.

Notes

For added flavor, try mixing in diced pickles or a dash of hot sauce to the beef mixture before baking.
