French toast sticks

Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, French toast sticks are a fun and easy breakfast treat perfect for dipping in syrup or your favorite sauce.

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 6 slices thick-cut white bread
  • Butter or cooking spray for the pan
  • Maple syrup, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.
  2. Cut each slice of bread into 3-4 sticks.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a small amount of butter or spray with cooking spray.
  4. Dip each bread stick into the egg mixture, ensuring all sides are coated but not soaked.
  5. Place the coated sticks onto the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Remove from skillet and serve warm with maple syrup for dipping.

Notes

For extra crispiness, sprinkle a little powdered sugar on top or serve with a side of fresh fruit.
