Belgian Waffles

Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, Belgian waffles are a classic breakfast treat that pairs perfectly with syrup, fresh fruit, or whipped cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs, separated
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat egg yolks with milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. In another bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form, then gently fold them into the batter.
  6. Lightly grease the preheated waffle iron and pour in the batter, spreading evenly.
  7. Cook waffles until golden brown and crisp, about 4-5 minutes depending on your waffle iron.
  8. Serve warm with your favorite toppings like maple syrup, fresh berries, or whipped cream.

Notes

For extra fluffy waffles, ensure egg whites are beaten stiff, and fold them in gently. You can also add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for a warm spice flavor.
