Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken breasts in the crockpot.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix chicken broth, cream of chicken soup, and onion soup mix until combined.
  3. Pour the mixture over the chicken in the crockpot.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or on high for 3–4 hours, until chicken is tender.
  5. Remove the chicken and set aside; shred or slice as desired.
  6. In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes to form a roux.
  7. Slowly whisk in 1 cup of the crockpot liquid and cook until thickened into a smooth gravy.
  8. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  9. Return shredded chicken to the gravy and warm through for a few minutes.
  10. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or biscuits.

Notes

For extra flavor, add sautéed mushrooms or a splash of white wine to the gravy. Serve with creamy mashed potatoes or buttered noodles for a complete meal.
