Alfredo Sauce

Freshly prepared Alfredo sauce on clean counter

This creamy and rich Alfredo sauce is a classic Italian favorite made with butter, cream, and Parmesan cheese, perfect for pairing with pasta or vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, but not browned.
  3. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer, stirring constantly.
  4. Reduce heat to low and slowly whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and thickened.
  5. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in chopped fresh parsley, if using.
  7. Serve immediately over cooked pasta or your favorite dish.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream, and add freshly grated nutmeg for extra warmth.
