Cinnamon Sugar Snowball Cookies

Delightfully crumbly and buttery, these Cinnamon Sugar Snowball Cookies are rolled in a fragrant cinnamon-sugar blend for a festive and irresistible treat.

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
  4. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until just combined. Stir in the chopped nuts if using.
  5. Shape the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet about 1 inch apart.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are just golden.
  7. Meanwhile, mix the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a shallow bowl.
  8. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet.
  9. While still warm, roll each cookie in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat thoroughly.
  10. Transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.

Notes

For an extra festive touch, sprinkle a little powdered sugar on top before serving or add a pinch of nutmeg to the cinnamon-sugar coating.
