  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 48 red or pink Hershey’s Kisses, unwrapped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place them 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until cookies are set and edges are firm.
  8. Immediately press one Hershey’s Kiss into the center of each cookie; the cookie will crack around the edges.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a festive twist, try using different colored Hershey’s Kisses or add a sprinkle of sea salt on top before baking.
