This classic Green Bean Casserole combines tender green beans with creamy mushroom sauce and crispy fried onions for a comforting and easy side dish perfect for any holiday meal.

  • 4 cups fresh green beans, trimmed and cut
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 1/3 cups French fried onions

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Bring a large pot of water to a boil, add green beans and cook for 5 minutes until tender-crisp. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, stir together cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper until well combined.
  4. Add the cooked green beans and 2/3 cup of the French fried onions to the soup mixture. Stir gently to combine.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish and spread evenly.
  6. Bake uncovered for 25 minutes until hot and bubbly.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining fried onions on top and bake for an additional 5 minutes until onions are golden brown.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, try adding a teaspoon of garlic powder or substituting half the mushroom soup with cream of celery soup. This dish pairs beautifully with roasted turkey or baked ham.
